The 13th Amendment abolished slavery 150 years ago, and the National Park Service is presenting "The Death Blow is Final: The 13th Amendment Becomes Official" on Saturday December 19th at 2:00.
The history surrounding the end of slavery in America is taught to every school child. This presentation will serve to remind, educate and inform people of one of the most important decisions for change made in our government's past. In addition to the presentation on the 13th Amendment on Saturday there will be a watch on December 31st and a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st. Both events will take place at Bethlehem-Wiley United Methodist Church at 500 Lookout Street in Chattanooga.
