“You can work a farm in the city” is the mission of Grow Hope Urban Farm in East Chattanooga.
People who work at the farm - part of Hope for the Inner City - grow produce and house chickens, learning cultivation and work ethic skills. The farm provides food and information to a community where food security is a real and ongoing concern.
Tim Mahala is director of fund development and program support at Hope for the Inner City.
Tory Worley is director of community development there.
Hilda Davis also works there - including in the garden at the Farm.
Lucy Schultz is a lecturer in philosophy here on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
She teaches a class that takes place at Hope for the Inner City and Grow Hope Urban Farm.
