T’ai chi chuan is an internal martial art - developed centuries ago in China - practiced worldwide for self-defense, healing, sports and meditation.
The movements of t’ai chi - dynamic, gentle and flowing - benefit both mind and body.
Since the traditional form of t’ai chi requires ambulatory ability, a team of t’ai chi instructors - working with instructors on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - developed an adaptive t’ai chi fitness class for veterans of any physical condition, making it accessible to veterans with ambulatory limitations.
These classes - which also welcome family members of veterans - are now virtual.
