The Hunter Museum

This year, the Hunter Museum of American Art here in Chattanooga is celebrating seventy years of collecting.

Where do you start to mark a milestone for three-thousand works of art?

You begin with “Beyond the Frame,” an exhibition - opening at the Hunter on Tuesday, January 28th - that will delve into the world of museum art collecting, featuring prized pieces and recent acquisitions.

Before the holidays, I spoke with Virginia Anne Sharber, the Hunter’s director - and Nandini Makrandi, the museum’s Chief Curator.
