Chattanooga is where the Medal of Honor was first awarded.
Two years ago, the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center opened its doors in downtown Chattanooga to tell the story of the nation’s highest military honor for valor.
Weeks later, the arrival of the pandemic forced the center to close until Memorial Day - but it has been open ever since.
Now, as the center prepares to mark two years, the focus is on new exhibits and reintroducing a character development program to area students.
Linda Moss Mines - vice chair of the center’s board - also serves as historian for Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
Hannah Sher is the Center’s director of education.
