Deep in the mountains of North Georgia, there is a retirement community unlike any other.
Project Chimps includes a six-acre sanctuary for former research chimpanzees.
The animals were used in research experiments until their endangered status made that illegal in 2015.
Now, they’re enjoying their retirement in the Blue Ridge mountains, and providing opportunities for visitors to learn more about them.
WTCI PBS - our public media partner - tells the story of Project Chimps in the latest “Greater Chattanooga.”
