If you gathered a dozen elders here in Chattanooga from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, what stories might they tell?

That is the premise of “Unmasking: Chattanooga Elders Speak,” a play of dramatic monologues based on oral history interviews of twelve people in this city - developed by Peggy Douglas, who wrote the play, and David Cook.

“Unmasking” comes to Barking Legs Theater for two already sold-out performances on Sunday, August 20th and Sunday, September 10th.

After each performance, David Cook will facilitate a discussion among the elders - known as storytellers - the actors and the audience.

I spoke with Peggy Douglas - and Dollie Hamilton, one of the storytellers who shared her history for the play.
