WALK for Hydrocephalus

Emalinn Ann Mitchell McLaughen

The Greater Chattanooga Area Hydrocephalus Association Walk will take place October 27th in Coolidge Park.  The 5K walk will begin at 11:00 AM.  Proceeds will benefit the Hydrocephalus Association to promote support, education and advocacy for people touched with hydrocephalus.  The medical condition hydrocephalus or "water on the brain" is a build up of cerebralspinal fluids in the skull that can cause enlarged head, pressure on the brain, vision problems, convulsions, and death.  The only treatment for this condition is brain surgery inserting a shunt to drain the fluid into the body.  Usually these shunts will need to be revised over time, requiring additional surgeries.  There is no cure for hydrocephalus.

Rabbit has been on the air at WUTC since 1993.
