Abraham Lincoln’s success in ending slavery in this country often overshadows the dilemma he faced in achieving that goal.

Tomorrow evening, two scholars of the 16th President during the Civil War will discuss that dilemma here on our campus - the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - in the Guerry Center Reading Room, starting at 5:30 PM, presented by UTC’s Department of History.

Dr. Michael Toomey is a Professor Emeritus of History at Lincoln Memorial University in East Tennessee, north of Knoxville - and a 1980 alum of UTC’s Department of History.

Dr. Charles Hubbard is a Professor Emeritus of History and Lincoln Historian at Lincoln Memorial University - and a visiting scholar in UTC’s Department of History.
