At one time, there used to be 150 neighborhood associations across the City of Chattanooga.
But because many groups were run by an aging demographic - and because of disruption due to the pandemic - only about 70 of those groups remain now.
Perrin Lance, the City’s neighborhood services manager, sees the associations as an important tool for civic engagement - and he’s trying to boost the number of associations.
