Bessie’s Front Porch: “Martin’s Big Words”

Feb 17, 2021

“Bessie’s Front Porch” features community members reading children’s books to spur dialogue on race relations.

The digital series from the Bessie Smith Cultural Center here in Chattanooga debuted last year - and it is back every day online throughout February for Black History Month.

Here’s Judge Curtis Collier reading “Martin’s Big Words: The Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.” by Doreen Rappaport.

Also, on Thursday, February 25th - at 6 PM:  the Bessie will co-sponsor a Living History virtual class on Black troops in the Civil War.

The Medal of Honor Heritage Center is another co-sponsor.
