Get Ready For America 250 In Chattanooga And Hamilton County

“Wave Your Stripes” banner for America 250.
America 250

It’s a word that comes around every 250 years - and just a few years from now, it will come for a celebration from sea to shining sea.

July 4th, 2026 will be the 250th anniversary - or the semiquincentennial - of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence, the birth of the United States of America.

America 250 is a nonpartisan initiative to engage people to celebrate the anniversary in their own communities - and here in Chattanooga and Hamilton County, plans are already getting started.

Linda Moss Mines is the Chattanooga and Hamilton County Historian.
