James Baldwin, the African-American author and activist, was born in New York City a hundred years ago this Friday. To mark the milestone, the Chattanooga Festivals of Black Arts and Ideas will host a birthday celebration that starts downtown at the Chattanooga Public Library.
Food for Thought is an invitational group exhibit set to open this fall at the Jewish Cultural Center here in Chattanooga, in partnership with the local media startup Food as a Verb. An open call for people to submit their images for the exhibit ends on Monday, August 5th.
Periscope is a business development program that connects artists with entrepreneurs in the Chattanooga area. The nonprofit ArtsBuild offered the training for the first cohort of Periscope artists last year - and applications for a new cohort of artists are due by this Friday, August 2nd.
