  • James Baldwin, the African-American author and activist, was born in New York City a hundred years ago this Friday. To mark the milestone, the Chattanooga Festivals of Black Arts and Ideas will host a birthday celebration that starts downtown at the Chattanooga Public Library.
  • Food for Thought is an invitational group exhibit set to open this fall at the Jewish Cultural Center here in Chattanooga, in partnership with the local media startup Food as a Verb. An open call for people to submit their images for the exhibit ends on Monday, August 5th.
  • Periscope is a business development program that connects artists with entrepreneurs in the Chattanooga area. The nonprofit ArtsBuild offered the training for the first cohort of Periscope artists last year - and applications for a new cohort of artists are due by this Friday, August 2nd.
