In July, WUTC begins bringing you five new shows from our new broadcast home on McCallie Avenue on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
It all starts on July 15 with Science Friday – Fridays at 2 p.m.
July 16 – The Children’s Hour – Saturdays at 7 a.m.
July 17 – The New Yorker Radio Hour – Sundays at noon.
July 18 – Today, Explained – Mondays through Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
July 19 – Latino USA – Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Science Friday - known as SciFri for short - is a weekly call-in talk show that broadcasts each Friday on public radio stations, distributed by WNYC Studios, and carried on over 400 public radio stations.
SciFri is hosted by award-winning science journalist Ira Flatow and was created and is produced by the Science Friday Initiative. The program is divided into two one-hour programs, with each hour ending with a complete sign-off. The focus of each program is news and information on science, nature, medicine and technology.
The Science Friday radio program is produced by the Science Friday Initiative, a 501(c)(3) organization. The Science Friday Initiative is an independently run organization with a governing Board of Directors and Executive Director. In addition to the radio program, the organization creates award-winning educational and digital content, finds underwriting for the program, and hosts public science events.
Science Friday is also available in a podcasting format and is one of the most popular iTunes downloads, frequently in the top 15 downloads each week. SciFri podcasts are downloaded over 23 million times per year and over 1.8 million listeners tune in each week to hear the program.

The Children’s Hour is a weekly radio show created for and with kids. Incredibly diverse themes are explored using interviews, storytelling, poetry, music and discussion with kids. Learn something new with us.
“The Children’s Hour” has been a popular Saturday morning staple of the KUNM, 89.9 FM lineup for decades. The show provides a free, easily accessible weekly educational service for listeners of all ages, while offering fun, exciting and useful production opportunities for children involved in making the show happen.
Each episode seeks to entertain while recognizing that almost no topic is too “sophisticated” for children, and that through exposure to science, technology, community service, civic engagement and cultural collaboration, we can address both educational gaps and trends toward low-public participation by young people. We feature young performers and thinkers, as well as adult expert guests in all fields and weave the show themes together with great music.
The Children's Hour is at 7 a.m. Saturdays starting July 16 on WUTC.

The New Yorker Radio Hour is a radio show and podcast produced by The New Yorker and WNYC Studios. It is hosted by David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker since 1998. The New Yorker Radio Hour is broadcast on more than 270 terrestrial radio stations and is available on demand in a variety of platforms.
The weekly radio show and podcast features interviews with journalists and cartoonists from The New Yorker as well as interviews with artists, writers, comedians, filmmakers and other cultural figures. Past guests include Aziz Ansari, Sarah Koenig, Julián Castro, Larry David, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Gloria Steinem and Amy Schumer.
As defined by host David Remnick, The New Yorker Radio Hour is "an hourlong program that is very much of The New Yorker, infused by its values, hosted by its writers and editors and artists, but also something unique, capacious, freewheeling".

Today, Latino USA is a public radio show with a dedicated focus on America's Latino community.
It is the longest-running Latino-focused program on the radio and the foremost voice in public media providing insight into the experience of Latinos throughout the United States. It is ranked among the top 10 in five of the top 25 national markets. Originally launched by University of Texas in Austin and the Ford Foundation in 1992, the program was a cutting-edge experiment to create an English-language Latino-centered public radio program.
Latino USA has won multiple journalism awards, most recently the 2010 Radio Impact Award from the Third Coast International Audio Festival. It has also received the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award; the Radio-Television News Directors Association's Edward R. Murrow Award; the Scripps Howard Foundation's National Journalism Award; the Gabriel Award; the Gracie Allen Award; and numerous awards from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters. In 2015, Latino USA earned a Peabody Award for "Gangs, Murder, and Migration in Honduras," a 2014 documentary which detailed the motivation behind the migration of thousands seeking to escape the violence of Honduras for a life in the United States.
