The Hunter Museum at 70: A Space For African-American Art

Now in its 70th year, the Hunter Museum of American Art here in Chattanooga has evolved in many ways through the decades.

As we conclude our conversation series in collaboration with the Museum, we talk about the Hunter and African-American art.

- Dr. Shewanee Howard-Baptiste is Vice Provost for Academic Outreach and Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance on our campus, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is also a committee member for the group Black Professionals at the Hunter, which offers events and opportunities at the Museum for this city’s African-American community.

- C-Grimey is a musician and rapper here in Chattanooga.

- Monica Ellison is a dancer and dance instructor in this city.

- Carlos Davis is with Rhyme n’ Chatt, the local interactive poetry organization.
