In mid-February of 2024, WUTC spoke with Aaron Dowdy, the lead singer and songwriter for the Durham-based band Fust. Growing up in a house full of music lovers, Aaron wrote his first song at the age of 11. Years later, in 2017, he started Fust as a solo home recording project: writing the songs, recording the instruments he knew how to play, and consigning friends to record the ones he didn’t. As he began sharing these recordings with others, he started to collect musician friends interested in expanding Fust into a full touring band. Together, they’ve produced two studio albums and even have a third one on the way. In early March of 2024, Fust came through Chattanooga on their way to South by Southwest, to play a show at The Woodshop Listening Room in St. Elmo.
