In a letter released to the media today, Russian President Vladimir Putin wishes President-elect Donald Trump warm Christmas greetings, and Putin says he hopes to Trump will take "real steps to restore the framework of bilateral cooperation in different areas" after the President-elect takes office.
In response, Trump said it was a "very nice letter from Vladimir Putin; his thoughts are so correct. I hope both sides are able to live up to these thoughts, and we do not have to travel an alternate path."
The letter is dated December 15; Trump's response was made public today.
