Chattanooga is known as a destination for emerging tech.

Think of the gig - or the future of smart cities - or the frontier of quantum computing.

But this Women’s History Month is a reminder of some of the work that remains in tech.

For example, women comprise less than a quarter of Chattanooga’s IT workforce.

ChaTech - the Chattanooga Technology Council - is stepping up to try to change that.

On Saturday, the nonprofit presents “STEM for Her - Chattanooga’s Summit for Women and Girls in Technology” - on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The summit will provide hands-on experiences in tech for women of any age and girls middle age and up.

Vicki Farnsworth is UTC’s vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer - and vice chair of ChaTech’s board.

We spoke about her career, her time here at UTC - and STEM for Her.
