For the past three years, we have shared conversations about the impact of the arts in learning, through the Arts-Based Collaborative on our campus: the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

As we celebrate the arts in our schools this month, we hear from a few voices from one community partnership for youth and the arts here in Chattanooga and Hamilton County.

Laurie Allen is Lyndhurst Chair of Excellence in Arts Education - and director of the Arts-Based Collaborative at UTC: abc@utc.

Kelly Shimel is fine arts coordinator for Hamilton County Schools.

Amy Lowdermilk is programs manager for ArtsBuild, the nonprofit for the arts here in Chattanooga and Hamilton County.

Rodney Van Valkenburg is executive director of Chattanooga Theatre Centre.

Robyn Stringfellow is manager of educational content and services for our public media partner, WTCI PBS.
