“Bleacher Bums” is described as “a comedy in nine innings” about baseball.

It pays tribute to fans of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field - set in 1977 as they root against their team’s bitter rival, the St. Louis Cardinals - fans who for generations ached for an ever-elusive World Series win.

For Yellow Dragon Productions here in Chattanooga, bringing the play to stage has felt like nine innings - if not longer.

It was supposed to premiere in late March of last year, only to be postponed by the pandemic.

But tomorrow night (Thu 10/14/21), at last, “Bleacher Bums” will open - at 7:30 PM at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Joel Scribner is artistic director of Yellow Dragon Productions.

Rob Inman, Levi Witt and Carlton Thomas are members of the ensemble cast.
