Here in Chattanooga, there is a place for poetry from the community for the community.

The Rhyme N Chatt Interactive Poetry Organization hosts open mic sessions free for the public to participate and enjoy.

Rhyme N Chatt - formed in 1999 - encourages creativity without judgment and challenges poets to express themselves without offensive language.

I spoke with Martina Alford of Rhyme N Chatt, along with Swayyvo - instrumentalist, producer and Rhyme N Chatt participant whose mom Marsha Mills is the organization’s president.

On Saturday at 6 PM, Stove Works here in Chattanooga will host “Poetry and the Black Bible” - a free community event featuring the poetry of Rhyme N Chatt, inspired by the art of Charlie Newton.
