An Alabama Explorer Of Antarctica’s Marine Life

(aired Weds 9/29/21)

Dr. James McClintock first traveled to Antarctica - the coldest, windiest, driest place on Earth - in 1982, nearly thirty years ago.

He has visited our southernmost continent thirty times, researching the marine life of the Antarctic seafloor - and in recent years, how climate change is impacting the rich and diverse species there.

James - a world-renowned expert in his field - is a professor of polar and marine biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Last month, he came to Chattanooga for the premiere of the film “Antarctica 3D,” now screening at the Tennessee Aquarium’s IMAX 3D Theater through December.
