A Recipe For The Arts In Early Learning At Battle Academy

Integrating the arts into early learning involves a collaborative choreography among educators.

Kelly Shimel is the fine arts coordinator for Hamilton County Schools, where she works with schools, teachers and community partners to support and advocate for fine arts initiatives and programming.

Jesse Goins is the principal of Battle Academy, the magnet school in Southside Chattanooga.

In the past few years, the Academy has seen somewhat of a renaissance with help from the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Arts-Based Collaborative on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga: abc@utc.
