Southern Christian Coaltion Says Getting Rid of ACA Protections Would Be Unchristian

Tennessee’s Attorney General is suing to overturn the Affordable Care Act,and a Tennessee group of faith leaders is protesting, saying it would be unchristian to get rid of protections for people who have pre-existing conditions.

The Southern Christian Coalition held a press conference in Chattanooga on the front lawn outside Memorial Hospital. The coalition is a statewide, nonpartisan, nondenominational group.

Reverend Scott Williamson of the United Church of Christ said, he believes Jesus would want healthcare provided for everyone.

“To be a follower of Jesus requires us to do just that, follow Jesus,” Williamson said. “Jesus who loved the loveless, fed the hungry, and healed the sick.”
