Seabins are devices that collect litter and other debris by skimming the surface of the water.
A new initiative is installing 18 seabins along the Tennessee River through a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a litter collection nonprofit - and sites in the Tennessee Valley, including the Tennessee Aquarium here in Chattanooga.
Dr. Anna George is the Aquarium’s vice president of conservation science and education.
Kathleen Gibi is executive director of Keep The Tennessee River Beautiful.
