Panel Discussion with 'The New Localism' Author Bruce Katz & Mayor Berke in Chattanooga 1/29

Co-authors Bruce Katz and Jeremy Nowak join us to discuss The New Localism: How Cities Can Thrive In the Age of Populism. The book says power is shifting in the world, downward from national governments to cities and metropolitan communities, and gives examples of local government's positive impact in several cities, including Chattanooga, Tennessee.

From the book:

"What Pittsburgh, Chattanooga, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, and Providence have in common is the ability to emerge from an urban decline following industrial-era prosperity into newfound global relevance by applying the tenets and principles of New Localism.... In all these stories, the critical element is collaborative governance across networks of public, private, civic, and university institutions and leadership."

Bruce Katz will be in Chattanooga on Monday, January 29, 2018, for a book signing and panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public, and people planning to go are asked to preregister online.
