Rising Rock

Rising Rock features non-fiction stories about Greater Chattanooga.

Contributors to Rising Rock are students on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - a collaboration between UTC's Department of Communication and UTC's student media, including: The Echo (student newspaper), MocsNews (student video news program) and The Perch (student digital radio station).

Rising Rock was named to honor Chattanooga.

The name “Chattanooga” was derived from the Muskogean word for Lookout Mountain, roughly translated as “rock rising to a point.”

Since 2020, Rising Rock has collaborated with WUTC through Scenic Roots, which airs a showcase of stories by Rising Rock students that airs after each semester.
