Tune in for a guest-hosted series of "Best of Richard Winham" shows celebrating his legacy, airing weekdays July through December.
After nearly four decades behind the mic, our beloved host Richard Winham officially retired from WUTC at the end of June 2025. While Richard begins a well-deserved retirement, his unmistakable voice and deep love of music will continue on our airwaves for a little while longer.
From July through December, we’re airing a special run of Best of Richard Winham episodes during his longtime weekday timeslot (10 a.m. – noon, Monday through Thursday). These are hand-picked, lightly edited favorites from Richard’s archives, each guest hosted by members of our station staff and volunteer team. You’ll hear fresh commentary, personal stories, and reflections on what Richard has meant to WUTC and the Chattanooga music scene.
Fridays will feature something a little different: a weekly takeover show, fully hosted and curated by a different community member, volunteer host, or WUTC staffer. These shows will carry on Richard’s spirit of musical exploration, while spotlighting the voices of the public radio community he helped cultivate.
From time to time, you’ll also hear special holiday programming from PRX or Content Depot in this timeslot.
We hope this tribute helps celebrate Richard’s remarkable legacy while giving our listeners a thoughtful, joyful way to revisit some of his most memorable moments on-air. If you’re wondering why you’re still hearing Richard’s voice, now you know!
Thank you for helping us honor a Chattanooga legend.
