UPDATE: CPD reports the officer has been released from the hospital. The search for the suspect continues. Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
Chattanooga police officers are searching for a black male, 5' 10", medium complexion and build, wearing dark pants and a dark sweatshirt with white cursive writing. He is suspected of shooting an officer three times at 9:24 am in the Mission/Glenwood area. CPD Chief Fletcher is asking the community for help by being on the lookout. If you spot the suspect, call 911. The officer is being treated at Erlanger.
Several schools are on lockdown as officers search the area: Hardy Elementary, CSAS, Orchard Knob Middle, Orchard Knob Elementary, Notre Dame, and McCallie.
