A former sea captain and his wife buy a house that is 120 years old. From the beginning, two fantasy characters have been there - collecting, storing and dispersing the memories made by people who have lived in the house. This is the tale of “The Memory Guardians” by Sue Carol Elvin of Chattanooga.

“Roads to Reading” is a new project provides books and audio-visual aids for children in Guatamalan-American families, where Mayan languages are spoken at home. Deyna Jacobo - a student in communication here at UTC who interned for Scenic Roots this past semester - tells us more.

Christmas is around the corner - and beyond that corner, New Year’s Eve and the arrival of 2024. On Sunday, December 31st, the City of Chattanooga and the local music nonprofit SoundCorps host the city’s official New Year’s Eve celebration - starting at 8 PM - at Broad St. and Aquarium Way.
