Medal of Honor Day - held on Tuesday this year - commemorates the men and women who have received the nation’s highest military award for valor.

Chattanooga - the birthplace of the Medal of Honor - is the home of the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center.

On Saturday, the center opens a new exhibit - honoring Capt. Larry Taylor, the Chattanooga native awarded the Medal of Honor in 2023 for his heroic acts as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.

Vince Butler is the major gifts officer at the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center.

Ray is the host and producer of "Scenic Roots" - Mondays through Thursdays at 3 PM - and WUTC's Editorial Director.
