Astrophotographer Harun Mehmedinovic is visiting the last places in North America where you can still see the Milky Way simply by looking at the night sky.
Light pollution, or Skyglow, has been encroaching on the ability to watch the stars as more and more artifical lights make seeing the night sky more difficult. The project Mehmedinovic and Gavin Heffernan are working on is called SKYGLOW. They are using time lapse photography and astrophotography to document the night skies. Dark skies are areas where the light pollution is kept at a minimum and the night sky still has most of it's luster. SKYGLOW is endorsed by the International Dark-Sky Association.
