CDE Presents Pulitzer-Winning Musical 'Next to Normal' 7/31 - 8/2

Musical director Terry Sanford and actor Christopher Cooper join us to talk about Closed Door Entertainment'sproduction of Next to Normal.

Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness and the attempts to alleviate it have on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life. The musical opened on Broadway in April 2009. It was nominated for eleven 2009 Tony Awards and won three. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, becoming just the eighth musical in history to receive the honor. We are honored to bring this production in association with Chattanooga's own AIM Center, working to bring about further awareness of mental disorders and conditions.
