Seeking the Spiritual: The Visionary Art of Elliott Daingerfield is the special exhibition at the Hunter Museum of American Art on display through February 21, 2016.
Daingerfield traveled across the United States in the early 1900's seeking the spiritual in landscapes around him. Many of the pieces in this exhibition are directly religious but many are allegorical works inviting the viewer to look deeper at the people and objects in the landscapes. The exhibited works are on loan from the Morris Museum of Art, Augusta, Georgia.
