Jericho Brass: Hymns and Heroes
The Jericho Brass is presenting a concert entitled “Hymns and Heroes” at the First Baptist Church of Dalton, 311 North Thornton Ave. in Dalton, on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
Some of the highlights of the program will include Summon the Heroes, written by John Williams for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, an energetic Scottish sword dance Strathcarron by Philip Sparke and ending with a crowd favorite Swingtime Religion, by Barrie Gott. Several sacred pieces will round out the hour-long program.
The Jericho Brass of Chattanooga, directed by David Butler, is a British-style brass band that has provided brass band music to audiences since 1998. The 35 volunteer members of the band include professional, college-trained musicians and high school students from the Tri-State area.
