Robert Putnam: Rebuilding Social Capital in America
Robert Putnam: Rebuilding Social Capital in America
In 2000, Robert D. Putnam pointed out that Americans were still bowling, but had largely stopped doing so in leagues. His book, "Bowling Alone," turned that observation into one of the most influential works on American civic life.
A quarter century later, Putnam comes to UTC to ask what has happened since, and what it would take to rebuild social connections and trust in America.
His talk is part of Common Ground, a civic communication series hosted by the UTC Department of Communication, which opened in September with Eric Klinenberg, author of "Palaces for the People."
Free and open to the public. Lecture followed by a Q+A.
