Children Learn to Give Back at Philanthropy Camp

Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanoogaand the Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarenewill co-host Philanthropy Camp and Camp Tikkun Olam July 29 through August 2 to promote community giving in youth in grades 1 through 9.

This is the 5th year for the Philanthropy Camp, offering rising 1st through 6th graders activities that focus on recognizing needs in the community, our environment and our world.  The camp counselors use hands-on activities and field trips to teach that philanthropy requires action.

Camp Tikkun Olam provides 7th, 8th, and 9th graders a chance to go into the community and volunteer at local nonprofit organization.  The youth involved in this camp will learn through action and provide a presentation to the Philanthropy Camp about their experiences.

Both camps are open to everyone regardless of religious affiliation.  The camp costs $120 for the first camper in a family and $100 for each sibling attending.  Limited financial assistance is available.

Philanthropy Camp and Camp Tikkun Olam will be held at the Jewish Cultural Center and First Church of the Nazarene July 29th through August 2nd.  To register call Deborah Tepper at (423) 493-0270 Ext 10 or email camp@jerishchattanooga.com.  Registration forms for both camps are availableonline.
