Chattanooga Oral History: Ray Laliberte's Story

In 2014, Chattanooga, Tennessee celebrated its 175th birthday.  As part of the celebratory events, WUTC  88.1 FM recorded interviews with approximately 30 residents for an oral history project.

Ray Laliberte, a teacher at Chattanooga’s Center For Creative Arts, talks about a memory that’s both his hardest one and fondest one.  He tells us about his student Kelly Butler, who passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly during her senior year.

Kelly Burton's parents have established theKelly Butler Memorial Scholarship for graduating CCA Arts Majors, and Kelly's grandmother Constance Cote has written and published a book, The Mop Doll Family, that benefits the scholarship fund.
