The Chattanooga Roller Girls have been at the heart of roller derby in Chattanooga since 2008 and will open their 6th season at the Chattanooga Convention Center on March 29, 2014.

The revival of roller derby has spread across the world and is still predominately a sport for women.  It is a fast paced full contact sport with 2 teams skating on quad skates around an oval track battling for points.  Each team has 4 blockers and 1 jammer and both teams attempt to get their jammer through the pack of blockers to score points by passing opposing team members.  The Chattanooga Roller Girls (CRG) is a member league of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association, a governing body for rules and certifications.  This season the Chattanooga Roller Girls will host 4 teams at home bouts and spend the rest of the season traveling to away games.

March 29th is the first home bout of the season and CRG will face Vette City Vixens from Bowling Green Kentucky.  The Vixens were victorious on February 8, 2014 when CRG skated against them in Kentucky with a final score of 212 to 190.  The Chattanooga Roller Girls  hope to turn the tables on Vette City this Saturday.

The schedule for home bouts this season includes:

March 29th CRG v Vette City Vixens from Bowling Green KY

May 24th CRG v Jukes of Hazzard from Atlanta GA

June 28th CRG v Derby City Roller Girls from Louisville KY

August 23rd  CRG v Mississippi Rollergirls from Gulfport MS

Season tickets are available for the first time this year; $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 6 to 12, kids under 5 get in free.  Single bout tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.  The doors open at 6:00 PM and the bout starts at 7:00 PM at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Rabbit has been on the air at WUTC since 1993.
