Southern Lit Alliance Hosts Dinner & Cocktail Parties During Celebration of Southern Literature

The Southern Lit Alliance will host a variety of social events with respected writers during the 2015 Celebration of Southern Literature. Tickets for these special events are available by phone or on www.SouthernLitAlliance.org.

Opening Reception: On Thursday, April 16, the Celebration of Southern Literature kicks off with the Opening Reception on the top floor of the newly constructed UTC Library, in the Grand Reading Room and Fellowship of Southern Writers archives. Guests may join acclaimed Southern writers from 7:00-8:30 PM for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation. The writers will be available for book signings, though guests should be sure to purchase their books in advance. Tickets to the Opening Reception are $15 and are available by phone or on the Southern Lit Alliance website.

After Hours at the Flying Squirrel Bar: In honor of the Fellowship of Southern Writers 2015 award-winners, the Southern Lit Alliance invites guests to enjoy specialty cocktails at the Flying Squirrel Bar on the Southside on Friday, April 17, at 6:30 PM. The award-winners will be available for book signing and conversation. This is not a ticketed event. Guests should note that they must be age 21+ to enter the Flying Squirrel Bar.

Southern Literary Feasts: Join a writer for an intimate dinner in a private home on Friday, April 17. Members of the Fellowship of Southern Writers will be special guests in ten homes for these very special dinner parties. Participating writers include Lee Smith, Roy Blount, Jr., Maurice Manning, John Shelton Reed, Andrew Hudgins, and many more. Guests will receive a signed copy of the writer’s latest book. Tickets for these amazing events are $125 and are available by phone or on the Southern Lit Alliance website.

The program for the 2015 Celebration of Southern Literature features a wide array of events and authors. Attendees may participate in workshops and social occasions, learn about fascinating topics in panel discussions, and listen to talented writers read from their work.
