Students at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga are preparing for a Presidential appearance Sunday evening. Trump has rented UTC’s McKenzie Arena for a rally in support of Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn. Student reactions are mixed. Some students told us they’re welcoming President Trump; others plan protests.
Officials at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga are saying Trump’s visit does not indicate an endorsement from the University.
“A public institution like UTC plays a significant role in helping communities engage in civic discourse, debate, and dialogue,” said George W. Hynd, Interim Provost & Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. “We open our doors to the public and must be willing to allow all speakers who meet our policies the use of our facilities.”
