Dr. Davey Smith is conducting one of the dozens of clinical trials now in progress across the country to find a cure - not a preventative vaccine - for the coronavirus.
He is a professor of medicine - and chief of infectious diseases and global public health at the University of California-San Diego.
Davey earned his biology degree from this campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
