This year brings a new chapter for The Pop-up Project.

The performance arts organization here in Chattanooga - founded by Jules Downum and Mattie Waters in 2016 - has split into a nonprofit and a for-profit.

The nonprofit - which retains The Pop-up Project name - provides outreach and education.

The for-profit - an experiential marketing and consulting firm - will present the performance and immersive work previously handled by the Project.

Jules Downum has stepped away as the Project’s executive director to run the for-profit.

Louie Marin-Howard - the Project’s director of outreach and education for the past year - is now the Project’s Interim Executive Director.
