In 1955, nearly seventy years ago, Emmett Till was kidnapped and lynched in Mississippi.
The horrific murder of the 14-year-old African-American teen ignited outrage nationwide - a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement.
On the fateful night when Emmett was taken from his bed, his cousin Wheeler Parker, Jr. - age 16 - was in the house with him.
Now the last living witness of that tragic event, Parker - who became a Reverend - has made it his mission to share that story, and keep the memory of Emmett Till alive for generations to come.
Rev. Parker - today in his eighties - is the next guest on “The A List with Alison Lebovitz,” this Thursday at 8:30 PM on our public media partner WTCI PBS.
