At Audubon Acres here in Chattanooga, Little Owl Village is one local archeological site in the story of the Indigenous and early European contact in the Southeast centuries ago.
Ava Lowery, who earned an anthropology degree here on our campus - the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - is a museum and outdoor educator at Audubon Acres, the main property of the Chattanooga Audubon Society.
She’s the first speaker in this fall’s Rita Vital Memorial Moccasin Bend Lecture Series, now celebrating its twentieth year - presented by National Park Partners in downtown Chattanooga.
Her talk - “Conquistadors and Chiefdoms: The Hidden History of 40HA84” - is Monday, starting at 7 PM, at the Tennessee Aquarium River Auditorium, free and open to the public. Registration is required.
