Jackie Mitchell was 17 years old when, as a pitcher for the Chattanooga Lookouts, she struck out Babe Ruth - and then, Lou Gehrig - during an exhibition game with the New York Yankees in April 1931.

Jean Patrick wrote about one of the first female pitchers in professional baseball history in the children’s book, “The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth.”

On Saturday, Jean will present a storytelling program at the downtown Chattanooga Public Library, starting at 2 PM in the 1st Floor Auditorium.
