Some of the oldest cemeteries here in Chattanooga are well known.
Three of them dominate 5th St next to our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Two more are Forest Hills and Pleasant Garden in Ridgeside.
But others are hidden across the city.
They’re protected from development - but with owners or caretakers who have moved on, many are in rough shape.
William Newlin of Chattamatters explores the forgotten graveyards in Chattanooga’s backyards.
