In Dayton, on more than ninety acres along the Tennessee River, there is the Kilbride Nature Sanctuary.
Part of Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, it’s a place where students, scientists and volunteers can learn and restore a piece of the outdoors - a home for native species where sandhill cranes gather each year.
Dr. Jeannie Long, a professor of environmental science at Tennessee Wesleyan, is the Sanctuary’s director.
Taylor McCoy is a student at Tennessee Wesleyan under Dr. Long, studying biology and environmental science.
