In his book “Seed Money,” Bart Elmore examines Monsanto, which produced the herbicide Roundup and genetically modified seeds before the German pharmaceutical firm Bayer acquired the company in 2018.
His earlier book “Citizen Coke” traces the rise of Coca-Cola, including Chattanooga’s role in its history.
Bart, who teaches environmental and business history at The Ohio State University in Columbus, spoke here on our campus - the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - during spring semester this year at UTC.
He gave this talk - titled “Monsanto, GMOs, and the Future of Food” - in the Guerry Center Reading Room, presented by UTC’s Department of History, its College of Arts and Sciences, and its Environmental Studies Program - along with Food as a Verb and the Southeast Tennessee Young Farmers Coalition.
