Kofi Mawuko was born in Ghana, West Africa.
He learned singing, dancing and playing music at an early age - traveling the world as lead dancer and master drummer with a performing troupe.
More than twenty years ago, Kofi came to this country - making the Southeast, and Chattanooga, his home - while still hitting the road to perform solo on percussion or with his Ogya World Music Band.
In the past year, Kofi has been one of the teaching artists working in our community through the Wolf Trap program at UTC’s Southeast Center for Education in the Arts, now known as the Arts-Based Collaborative at UTC.
